Virgin Media has just revealed the launch of a new, ultra-fast triple play package, V.VIP TV bundle which is likely to be available to its customers in Spring 2019.
The new TV package would include new, VIVID 500 fibre broadband which could deliver an average download speed of 516Mbps and upload speed of 35Mbps.
Currently, Virgin Media offers top speeds of 362Mbps on its VIVID 350 broadband plan which is included as part of its dual broadband & phone package and VIP triple play bundle.
According to Virgin Media, VIVID 500 is capable of of offering top speeds of 575Mbps and 38.5Mbps upload speed.
During the initial launch, the new VIVID 500 plan would be available only with V.VIP TV & broadband bundle. It is yet not known, when this ultra fast plan would be available with phone bundles or as standalone.
For a couple of years, Virgin has been upgrading its old cable network to the latest DOCSIS 3.1 technology across the UK to improve capacity and offer up to 1Gbps to its residential and business customers.
The upgrade will allow users to get faster speeds using an advanced Hub 4 router which would be bundled with the new service which would be activated in a few cities this year.
However, the latest VIVID 500 would use the existing fibre optic cable network without any need for any upgrade, so the bundle would be available to existing customers soon.
V.VIP bundle would soon replace the existing VIP bundle, according to the cable operator. The package would cost from £99 for 12 months, and then £139 a month. Installation would cost £25 extra.
Like the current VIP bundle, V.VIP bundle would include more than 300 TV channels, two V6 boxes, BT Sport, Sky Cinema and Sky Sports. Mobile SIM with unlimited data and minutes for 12 months is also included,
