Mobile operator and home broadband provider Vodafone is all set to launch Fibre to the Home (FTTH) broadband which can deliver 1Gbps speed. It has been confirmed that the new service will be available to UK homes later this year.
Vodafone which currently offers fibre broadband with speeds ‘up to’ 38Mbps and ‘up to’ 76Mbps seems to focus on launching full fibre service instead of rolling out hybrid fibre broadband (G.fast) which Openreach plans to deliver to 10m UK premises by 2020. G.fast network can deliver up to 330Mbps speed which is much slower than 1Gbps FTTH broadband.
Vodafone has indicated that it would rather prefer to provide a superior broadband experience for customers by launching full fibre FTTH service in 2018. However, the provider is yet to reveal whether it has plans at all to join Openreach’s G.fast rollout.
In 2017, Vodafone and Cityfibre have announced joint investments of £500m to build FTTH network to cover 5m UK homes by 2025. It is estimated that the rollout would bring ultra-fast service to 1m premises across 12 UK cities by the end of 2018.
Vodafone home broadband includes both standard and fibre packages. Vodafone fibre broadband deals are low priced when compared to products from its rivals. Free activation helps new customers make great savings.
