UK holiday spots to become wi-fi hotspots

BT is to offer wi-fi broadband access at many UK holiday destinations like Coastfields Leisure sites in Skegness, three Pontin’s camps and seventy-seven campsites.

BT Openreach, the ISP’s wi-fi providing section has signed a deal with Wicoms to setup wi-fi hotspots in these holiday sites, it was reported.

BT Openzone customers or those who have subscribed to mobile broadband on their handsets can use these wi-fi connections at free of cost. Alternatively, users can also use BT wi-fi vouchers at £5.88 /90 min access.

Wi-fi broadband access enables users to get connected to broadband internet on their laptops or wireless enabled devices at wi-fi hotspots.

Simon Davies, Chief Technology officer at Wicoms said:

“Lots of Brits have stayed in the UK rather than head overseas this year. Families tell us that holiday sites are another location where they want to get online. Teenagers and gadget addicts are set to be heavy users.”

BT broadband customers now access BT’s wi-fi hotspot connections at various locations in UK like Starbuck, Caffe Nero and Premier Inn. BT is also continually expanding its network of international wi-fi hotspots where its customers need wireless access.
